Thinking Is Addictive is taken from the forthcoming third ATP album
The 25th Hour is the first single to be taken from my third album ‘Those Stolen Moments’. The single is out on all digital services on 18 October 2019.
For now, this is the promo video.
It is exciting to begin the official promotional campaign for the new album and there will be lots more about that coming soon.
Last weekend I finished ATPLP3!
There is a lot I want to say about this but all of that will come over the next few months. For now I will say I am really pleased with how it sounds. It is a 9 track album and sounds like the ATP you know and love but hopefully with a new level of maturity and direction.
I am going to start thinking about promo and release plans shortly but for now I am just going to take a moment to soak in that it is done!
I have a couple of shows coming up next week in Brighton and London.
I will be supporting Moon Hooch who are an awesome band.
Please do check out the gig listings and come and be a pigeon.
I have been going to Glastonbury since 1995 and apart from missing a few over the years I have been to pretty much all of them since then.
This year I got to play a number of shows over the week and wanted to do a quick summary about it all.
Firstly – It is worth noting I have not played live as Amongst The Pigeons in over 6 years so before the festival I was feeling a bit nervous about it all.
I played my first Glasto show on Wednesday afternoon at The Green Info stage. It was a lovely little show with a nice passing crowd who occasionally stopped for a dance.
Then on Wednesday evening I did my first ever ATP eco-electro show. I set up in the Theatre & Circus field and just started playing. Before long I had built up a nice little crowd who all stuck around to enjoy the show. The set up for this is all run off a USB-powerbank and I will be doing more of these shows at future events.
The main ATP:LIVE show came on Friday night into Saturday morning at The Open Arms stage. I was really looking forward to this and the show beat all my expectations. It was the perfect time for one of my sets. Lots of happy people who all became amongst the pigeons with me and a lot of dancing took place.
The PA was loud and the whole thing felt great. I am now utterly excited about the next round of shows I have coming up and feel the rebirth of ATP is now well and truly underway.
Thanks to all the people who let me play and all the people who came to watch, dance, take photos and support – I will be working my hardest to return in 2020!
Hi folks – hope you are all doing well. At the weekend I took my ‘ATP eco-electro-guerilla live set’ up to the top of The South Downs Way.
It was a tad windy but I played a little set and recorded some of it which you can watch over on my Facebook page.
I’ll be doing a few of these sets at this years Glastonbury to keep your eyes peeled.
LISTEN – I AM DYING – YOU ARE DYING – WE ARE DYING
I am pleased to reveal my latest single ‘The Great Dying’ which is released on 14 June 2019.
I made this track a few weeks back and the whole thing came together in a single weekend. I usually spend months working on tracks but with this one I wanted to capture something raw and release it without putting too much thought into it. That may or may not be the right thing – who knows?
The track is based on a rising synth riff and features electronic narration.
The words were inspired by the recent Extinction Rebellion protests across the globe and my desire to try and do my bit to help.
You can listen and download the single on SoundCloud right now and it will be on streaming and digital services in a couple of weeks but you can pre-save now.
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and I wanted to take the opportunity to write a little bit about my experiences with it and hopefully help one or two people along the way.
Over the years I have written a number of articles about my mental health including a lengthy piece for CALM back in 2013 which went into a lot of detail about my psychosis, depression and near suicide attempt.
Since then I have had continued ‘Up’s and Down’s’ with my mental health and still go through very dark bouts of depression, self-doubt, anxiety and generally just feeling shit.
But as time goes on I have started to deal with it all a little better. A large part of this is knowing myself more as I get older and also having people around me who I trust and feel ok being able to say ‘I feel crap at the moment’.
Some of the steps I have taken recently to deal with things better include doing more exercise throughout the week, being utterly open and honest and trying to take each day as it comes and switching my thoughts to let go of some of the negatives and focus on positives. All easier said than done.
I realise it is not always that easy and believe me I still have days where I get lost in dark clouds but knowing I am in them and knowing they won’t last forever does help.
The other side of being aware of my own Mental Health is that it gives me the ability to understand when others are going through bad times. We can all do things to help others such as really making sure people are ok and taking the time to listen to them if they need to talk.
We live in such a fast paced world these days that it can be easy to get caught up in your own dilemmas and be dismissive of other people.
Sometimes all it takes is a smile and saying to a friend ‘I’m here if you need me’. Often people find it hard to start those difficult conversations so do what you can to help facilitate them.
If you are going through something at the moment don’t feel scared or ashamed to say that you are not feeling right. Just because it’s a mental illness doesn’t mean that it is a bad thing. It is just a part of you that needs a little bit of care.
Blimey. It’s been over a month since I last did a little update so I thought I had better do another one.
I’ve actually been quite busy. I have finished my new ATP:LIVE show and am ready to rock’n’roll with a full 30-45 minute live show. Just waiting for people to book me now.
I finished what will become the 3rd ATP album. It’s a 7 track album and is only 20 minutes long but it packs a punch in that time. Still not sure when I release this just yet.
I have also been working on another new song which I am really happy with and am planning to release it ASAP. There’s a few little tweaks needed but I want to get it out for the summer – ahead of the album even.
So that’s me. I am going to Glastonbury in June and although I don’t have any official slots I will be rocking up at some of the bars trying to get a slot so keep your ears peeled.
Hello everyone and welcome to Spring. It finally feels like the dark and cold days of Winter are disappearing and we have Spring and Summer to look forward to.
It’s been a while since I did a blog post and I wanted to keep you in the loop with what I have been up to.
First up was the release of ‘Begging Your Pardon’ earlier on in March. This is an introductory collection in which I selected a number of my older songs and remastered them. The idea was to draw a line between all the old ATP music and what comes next.
So, in terms of new music .. I have a record finished and ready to go. It was originally going to be an EP but has evolved slightly into a 7 track mini-album and I am very proud of how it is sounding. At the moment I am exploring a few options as to how and when I release it. Listening back to it there is a definite maturity in the music from the ATP of old but still has the same beats, synth and mad ideas that you all hopefully know and love.
I have also spent a lot of time working on a new ATP:LIVE set. It has been 5 years since I did as gig as ATP and I am REALLY keen to get back out there and play shows again. The new live set has been totally built from the ground up and features a selection of both old and new songs all of which have been updated for a live audience.
I have been plugging away trying to secure shows but am finding it incredibly difficult to get back into it, so if you are reading this and either book shows or know people who do please get in touch. I have had new business cards made up and am eager to get them in circulation.
So that’s a brief update from me – lots more to come including some behind the scenes footage from my new live show practices.
Peace & Feathers x
